We are looking for an ambitious Controller to provide financial support for our business with approximately 75 employees in the Northern Virginia Area. You will be part of a small team working to maintain order and transparency and will report directly to the company‚Äôs CFO.  The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of cash flow management, monthly financial statement preparation and analysis and a strong technical background in implementing / maintaining accounting systems.

The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of our company so we can make the right decisions and accomplish long term success.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with finance policies, US GAAP, and Federal cost compliance rules
  • Review all contracts of the company to ensure the financial aspects of contracts and the requirements of the company are evaluated prior to execution
  • Review of monthly contract revenue results to ensure appropriate revenue recognition
  • Monitor banking activities of the organization.  Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's need
  • Manage all finance and accounting functions including GL, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, tax and treasury
  • Build out and maintain financial/HR reporting system
  • Train and manage 1-2 support employees to assist with payroll and invoicing.
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded; reconciling accounts
  • Review sales and expenses and accrue or defer revenue and expenses as applicable
  • Review and approve employee & contractor expense reports
  • Review and approve employee and contractor timesheets
  • Process payroll; ensure payroll taxes are filed timely
  • Maintain sales records and file sales taxes timely
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Preparation of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to company accounting and financial guidelines
  • Preparation of monthly/yearly closing
  • Work with the CFO to provide additional guidance to compliance with government agency regulation
  • Work with the CFO & Human Resources on the administration of all Health and Benefit Plans

  • Strong analytical skills and presentation

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in QuickBooks Online
  • Experience in payroll processing
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel
  • 5-7 years of previous experience working in accounting
  • BS/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field

Job Type & Pay:

  • Full-time (Part-time is negotiable)
  • Salary will vary depending upon experience
